Smeaton's Tower on Plymouth Hoe

The PPCA has always maintained a strong emphasis on coaching and training. We are fortunate to have a large number of (volunteer) qualified coaches in our membership. The coaching members are very enthusiastic and provide high quality training.

Introductory Courses

Throughout the summer months we run Starter Sesions and Introductory Courses (1Star) for potential new members, with the emphasis on having fun whilst learning new skills.

Club Sessions

For full club members there are Tuesday evening training sessions from April to September working towards the BCU 2* and 3* star awards. For those working towards their 2* award, have a look at the 2 Star Progression Check List . During the Winter months we run White Water trips on local rivers. All year round we run Saturday recreational paddles where you can develop your own skills on longer journeys (these are not training sessions).

Coaching Development

The club encourages all our coaching members and offers a great deal of support, mentoring, formal and informal training to help them development.
