The club was established in 1972 and we have been paddling on Plymouth Sound and the surrounding areas ever since.

Our aim is to make paddlesport as accessible to all as we can. We must be doing something right as we continue to have a strong growing membership of around 150 members, with a mix of ages from 10 to well into their 70s.

British Canoeing LogoPPCA is affiliated to Canoe England part of British Canoeing (BC) formally known as British Canoe Union or BCU for short, the club has always had a reputation for high standards for both coaching and safety. Canoe England Top Club LogoProven by the fact we have earned and maintained the Canoe England Club Mark Top Club Award for many years. We were approached by Canoe England to become recognised as a Paddle-Ability Top Club early in 2015. After several of our coaches and regular helpers completed the training required we attained our Paddle-Ability Top Club status in May 2015. All of our coaches are BC registered and qualified and as a matter of club policy all coaches and regular helpers are DBS or CRB checked annually as well.

We provide a busy programme made up of a variety of recreational trips, skills coaching and youth fun sessions for new and existing members. Our training is carried out with BC qualified coaches ranging from Level 1 to Level 5 covering a Sea, Recreational, White water and Open Canoe disciplines. For more information on our training / coaching see the “Coaching” tab in the menu above. The club is totally run by volunteers with no paid members of staff, committee or coaches. We operate as a not for profit organisation, we are currently working on becoming registered as a Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC). All our coaches give up their spare time and money gain the qualifications required and run our sessions. PPCA offers support where we can to aid with coach development.
