The Port of Plymouth Canoeing Association (PPCA) is a friendly club with the advantage of a fantastic location. The club provides training and a full range of activities from gentle paddles on the sea and estuaries to white-water kayaking on rivers.  Want to join a thriving and active canoe club? Introductory membership

Introductory courses, cost just £50 for a one-day Saturday session from 9am to 4pm (six hours training time) plus two free club training sessions on consecutive Tuesday evenings following on from the course to give you a taste of Canoeing.
These courses are for adults and children of age 12 years and over. Basic skills are introduced to promote safety whilst participants have fun and learn about the sport. The sessions include an optional assessment for the British Canoe Union 1-star award. Families are especially welcome.

Please collect 'Sainsbury's Active Kids' and 'Tesco's vouchers for Schools and clubs'

It's that time of year again and Sainsbury's and Tesco's are once again running their voucher scheme to encourage more children to be active. Please help us collect as many vouchers as possible to purchase equipment for our younger paddlers. There is a collection box in the members shed or please pass to any committee member.

Isles of Scilly Camp Summer 2012.

The campsite on the Isles of Scilly has been provisionally booked for the PPCA summer camp. Dates are from Friday 27 July to Friday 10 August 2012. You can come for one or 2 weeks. The Isles of Scilly are just a magical place to be and you don't need to be a kayaker to enjoy your stay; so you could even bring the family! For more details and application form, look here...

Introductory courses

Exploring the Westcountry coast in a sea kayak, an adrenaline rush down a whitewater river, taking a kayak out surfing the waves or just a gentle paddle in an open canoe in one of the region's many estuaries. If any of these sound like your idea of heaven, then right here is a good place to start ...These Introductory courses in 2012 are suitable for beginners and those with little paddling experience and provide training and assessment to British Canoe Union 1-star level the recognised paddlesport qualification in the UK. Tues Evening Training 2012

The 2012 Club Tuesday evening training sessions for 1* Plus. 2*, 3* Sea and 3* Plus will begin on Tues 10th April. Please be changed and ready for your training session to start by 6:00pm, the sessions generally finish around 8:15pm. But may be slightly later depending on the session and the coach taking it. Please read the latest edition of Wet News for details of the coaches taking the various sessions. Also have a look at the forum for any last minute changes or amendments to sessions. The Tuesday evening training is open to all club members of all abilities, there is something for everyone.

Saturday Recreational Trips

These continue throughout the coming months with sea kayak trips on the first Saturday of each month. The weather can still be chilly so wrap up warm. See newsletter for details.

Club helpers

Help is always needed from club members on club sessions, particularly in assisting the coaches on 1 Star courses & Paddlepower sessions. At the start of the season all 'Club Helpers' will have to be registered with the club before assisting on sessions. If you want to put something back into your club & wish to help out, please contact the Club Leader for more details or see the topic on the club forum.
